Senior Electrical Engineer /Data Center / Hyperscale

Location: Remote (US) / New York NY / Austin TX / San Francisco CA

Salary: $200,000 – $270,000 per year, plus equity

Type: Full-time

The role

One of the most active hyperscale data center developers in the US is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to provide technical oversight across a rapidly scaling portfolio of large-scale data center projects. This is not a standard design role. The company is targeting 10GW of deployed compute and they need someone who understands the full power delivery chain from utility feed through to rack level and can hold the line on design quality across a growing portfolio of concurrent projects.

The ideal background is someone who has done this at a hyperscale operator or a major mission-critical design firm that works directly with hyperscalers. If that is you, the compensation is among the strongest in the market for this type of role.

What you'll be doing

Provide technical oversight of end-to-end electrical designs for large-scale data centers across the full power distribution chain, from MV distribution through LV topologies to rack level

Ensure design quality, code compliance, and alignment with internal technical standards across all levels of power delivery

Contribute to the development of internal design standards, specifications, and best practices for data center electrical systems

Review and challenge electrical design decisions made by external consultants and internal teams

Apply working knowledge of major data center electrical topologies including 2N, N+1, catcher bus, and distributed-redundant configurations and articulate the trade-offs between them

Maintain design consistency across a rapidly growing multi-site portfolio

What we need from you

8 or more years of experience in data center electrical design or other mission-critical facilities, with exposure to the full power distribution chain from utility feed through rack level

Prior experience at a hyperscale operator such as AWS, Google, Meta, or Microsoft, or a major mission-critical design firm working on hyperscale projects

Solid understanding of major data center electrical topologies and the trade-offs between them

Familiarity with NEC (NFPA 70), TIA-942, NFPA 110, IEEE 446, NFPA 70E, and IEEE 1584

Good to have

Experience with high-density AI/ML and HPC compute environments and the electrical demands of GPU-heavy workloads

EPMS/BMS integration, liquid cooling electrical distribution, and ASHRAE TC 9.9 thermal guidelines

PE license strongly preferred, or ability to obtain within 18 months

Revit MEP, AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, Bluebeam

Compensation and benefits

$200,000 – $270,000 per year DOE, plus equity (stock options)

Health, dental, and vision insurance

Retirement plan

Generous PTO

Worth knowing

This is an owner/developer role at a company deploying compute at a scale very few organisations in the world are operating at. The client base includes some of the largest AI labs in existence. If you have hyperscale electrical design on your CV and want to work at the frontier of that infrastructure build-out rather than as a consultant responding to it, this is the right conversation to have.
