Our client is a global engineering organisation delivering innovative modular data centre solutions across Europe. Due to continued growth and a significant pipeline of projects in France, they are looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical discipline on large-scale, technically complex data centre developments.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the electrical engineering function from concept design through to commissioning and handover, working on cutting-edge mission-critical facilities alongside highly experienced international engineering teams. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring electrical systems are designed, coordinated and delivered in line with French regulations, client requirements and global engineering standards.
The Role
As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the electrical engineering discipline across multiple modular data centre projects in France. Acting as the primary technical interface between local stakeholders and the wider international engineering team, you will ensure all electrical systems are technically compliant, practical to construct and delivered to the highest quality standards.
This is a varied position offering exposure to every stage of the project lifecycle, including design development, procurement, manufacturing, construction support, commissioning, Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and final project handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical engineering discipline from concept design through to commissioning and project handover.
- Develop, review and modify electrical designs, drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with French regulations, project specifications and client requirements.
- Coordinate with consultants, bureaux de contrôle, contractors, utility providers, suppliers and local authorities throughout project delivery.
- Act as the technical interface between local French stakeholders and global engineering, procurement and project delivery teams.
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with Mechanical, Structural, Architectural, Fire Protection, Controls and BIM teams.
- Review vendor documentation, technical submissions and equipment specifications.
- Identify design risks, technical issues and regulatory challenges while driving practical engineering solutions.
- Provide technical support during procurement, manufacturing, construction, factory testing, commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards and next-generation modular data centre solutions.
Technical Experience
The successful candidate will have strong experience across a number of the following:
- Medium and low voltage (MV/LV) power distribution
- Utility and grid connections
- Transformers and switchgear
- UPS systems and standby generators
- Battery and energy storage systems
- Grounding and lightning protection
- Electrical protection systems
- Monitoring and control systems
- Commissioning, testing and system integration
- Mission-critical electrical infrastructure for data centres or complex industrial facilities
About You
To be considered for this position you should have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 8 years' experience delivering electrical engineering design or project delivery.
- Previous experience within data centres, mission-critical facilities, industrial projects or other technically complex infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems and the ability to review and develop engineering documentation.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams on large-scale projects.
- Familiarity with French electrical regulations, permitting processes and local construction practices.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and coordination skills.
- Experience with BIM coordination and electrical engineering software would be advantageous.
- Fluent French and professional English are essential.
