AV Design Engineer 3 – Tysons, VA
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced AV Design Engineer 3 to join a growing engineering team delivering sophisticated audiovisual solutions across complex, mission-critical environments.
This role will be responsible for taking AV requirements from concept and site survey through detailed design, documentation and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design integrated audiovisual systems including video conferencing, displays, video walls, audio, cameras and streaming solutions.
- Develop detailed AutoCAD drawings, schematics, system architectures and equipment layouts.
- Produce BOMs, technical specifications and complete AV design packages.
- Conduct site surveys and translate client requirements into practical AV solutions.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, vendors and installation teams throughout project delivery.
- Support system testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and final acceptance.
- Design and integrate AV-over-IP and networked AV systems.
- Review designs for technical accuracy, performance, constructability and compliance with project requirements.
Required Experience
- 4+ years of professional AV design/engineering experience.
- Strong AutoCAD experience and ability to produce detailed technical drawings.
- Experience designing complex integrated AV systems.
- Knowledge of Crestron, Extron and/or AMX platforms.
- Understanding of AV-over-IP, networking and digital signal distribution.
- Experience with audio, video, control, conferencing and display technologies.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across engineering and project delivery teams.
Preferred
- Experience within mission-critical, government, enterprise or large-scale commercial environments.
- Experience with security/clearance-sensitive projects.
- AV industry certifications such as CTS or related credentials.
