Commissioning Manager – Data Center Project | Stavanger, Norway

Location: Stavanger, Norway

Duration: Minimum 18 month contract

Rotation: 17 days on / 5 days off preferred; 10/4 may also be considered


We are currently seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to join a major data center project in Stavanger, Norway, working on behalf of the General Contractor (GC).

This is a long-term opportunity, with a minimum 18-month commitment, suited to an experienced commissioning professional with a strong background in large-scale data center projects.

Candidates should have proven full M&E commissioning experience. Exceptionally strong Mechanical or Electrical Commissioning Leads with the right data center and GC experience may also be considered.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the commissioning process across the project, from Level 1 through Level 5 (L1–L5).
  • Manage commissioning activities for both Mechanical and Electrical systems across the data center.
  • Develop, review and implement detailed commissioning scripts and procedures.
  • Manage and maintain commissioning trackers, tagging systems and progress documentation.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities between the GC, subcontractors, vendors, engineering teams and client representatives.
  • Lead and attend regular commissioning meetings, providing clear updates on progress, issues, risks and outstanding activities.
  • Manage commissioning programmes and ensure activities remain aligned with project milestones.
  • Review systems and equipment readiness prior to commissioning activities.
  • Oversee and coordinate hands-on commissioning activities through to final testing and client acceptance.
  • Drive the resolution of commissioning issues, defects and punch-list items.
  • Ensure all commissioning documentation, test records and handover information are completed to the required standard.
  • Work closely with the construction and project teams to ensure systems are ready for each stage of commissioning.
  • Monitor subcontractor and specialist vendor performance during commissioning.
  • Ensure commissioning activities are carried out safely and in accordance with project procedures and standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to the wider commissioning team.


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Commissioning Manager on large-scale data center projects.
  • Minimum 18 months' experience working on a major data center project.
  • Previous experience working on behalf of a General Contractor (GC) is essential.
  • Demonstrable experience managing full L1–L5 commissioning.
  • Strong experience developing and managing commissioning scripts, trackers and tagging systems.
  • Comfortable leading commissioning meetings and coordinating multiple project stakeholders.
  • Full M&E commissioning experience preferred.
  • Strong Mechanical or Electrical commissioning background will be considered for exceptional candidates.
  • Relevant Electrical or Mechanical qualification.
  • Strong understanding of data center commissioning processes and requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage commissioning activities from construction completion through to final integrated testing and handover.

Candidates must already have the right to work in Norway, for example through:

  • Norwegian residency/right-to-work status; or
  • Valid EU/EEA passport or other appropriate Norwegian work authorisation.
