Our client is a leading global digital infrastructure business specialising in the design, development and operation of large-scale data centre facilities. With an established presence across key international markets and a growing European platform, they work with some of the world's leading technology and hyperscale organisations to deliver critical digital infrastructure at scale. Due to continued growth across their European portfolio, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their delivery team in the Frankfurt area and take ownership of major data centre projects from design through to construction, commissioning and handover.

The Role

As Senior Project Manager, you will take ownership of major data centre projects throughout the full project lifecycle, from design, permitting and procurement through construction, commissioning and final handover. You will work closely with internal engineering and delivery teams, contractors, consultants, vendors, utility providers, local authorities and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead detailed project execution plans covering scope, programme, budget, resources and risk management.
  • Manage project schedules across design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
  • Coordinate designers, engineers, contractors, consultants, vendors, utility providers and other project stakeholders.
  • Oversee design development, ensuring solutions meet client requirements, operational needs, regulatory obligations, safety standards and sustainability objectives.
  • Support permitting and approvals, including construction permits, utility connections and relevant German regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee construction activities, contractor performance, site progress, quality and health & safety.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost reporting, change control and risk mitigation.
  • Lead quality control, testing, commissioning and operational readiness activities.
  • Ensure electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire suppression and IT infrastructure systems are delivered in accordance with design requirements.
  • Manage the successful handover of completed facilities to clients, tenants and operations teams.
  • Provide clear and accurate project reporting to senior management, clients and key stakeholders.


About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Significant experience delivering large-scale data centre construction projects or similarly complex mission-critical environments.
  • A strong track record managing multi-million-euro construction projects through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
  • Experience managing contractors, consultants, subcontractors, vendors and internal project teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction delivery, project controls, change management, risk, quality and health & safety.
  • Good knowledge of data centre infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire suppression, IT infrastructure, redundancy and energy efficiency.
  • Experience working within German construction regulations and permitting processes.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project or similar.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Certifications such as PMP, LEED, BREEAM, ISO 9001 or ISO 50001 would be advantageous.
  • Strong English and German language skills are required.
