Mechanical Technical Director – Advanced Technology Facilities (Data Centers / Life Sciences / Semiconductors)


Location: Hybrid (Dallas, TX / Albany, NY / Raleigh-Durham, NC / Conshohocken, PA)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $200,000 – $230,000 base + bonus

Our client is a global engineering, procurement, and construction firm delivering advanced technology facilities for the world's leading data center operators, life sciences and biopharmaceutical manufacturers, and semiconductor manufacturers. The Advanced Technology Facilities group is expanding and is looking for a Mechanical Technical Director to help shape how the business wins and delivers projects across the Americas.


This is a senior, business-facing engineering role. Openings are available across three sectors: data centers, life sciences, and semiconductors. You will act as the technical authority on facility design within your sector, working alongside business development and account teams to win new work, while mentoring project teams on sector-specific design best practices across the region.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the go-to technical authority for advanced technology facility design within your sector (data centers, life sciences, or semiconductors) across the Americas in a mechanical scope.
  • Support business development and account teams by identifying project delivery differentiators and value-added propositions during client positioning
  • Provide pre-sales support, evaluating project feasibility and developing preliminary designs to support proposals and bids
  • Train and mentor project teams on sector-specific design issues, lessons learned, and best practices (mission-critical for data centers, BSL/cGMP for life sciences, fab/cleanroom for semiconductors)
  • Coordinate project teams through proposal effort, strategy, and budget development
  • Maintain relationships with past clients to develop repeat business and new leads
  • Ensure designs align with industry-accepted practice and leading-edge technologies
  • Introduce new methods and approaches to process and facility design problem-solving within your sector


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
  • 10+ years of experience in data center, life sciences, or semiconductor facility design
  • Experience in a technology assessment or advisory role within your relevant industry
  • Demonstrated ability to influence internal management and clients
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to collaborate across remote offices and time zones


Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in EPC services
  • Experience implementing new technical initiatives with demonstrated ROI impact
  • Background in large-scale facility delivery within data centers, life sciences, or semiconductors
  • Master's degree and/or PhD


Compensation & Benefits
