CX (Commissioning) Manager – Data Center - Virginia
Overview
We are seeking an experienced CX (Commissioning) Manager to lead commissioning activities on a large-scale, mission-critical data center project in Virginia. This is an initial 12 month contract with strong potential for extension.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the full commissioning lifecycle, managing teams, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring all systems are delivered to the highest standards of performance, reliability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the end-to-end commissioning process (Levels 1–5).
- Develop and oversee commissioning strategies, plans, and schedules.
- Manage and coordinate commissioning engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all commissioning-related activities.
- Review and approve design documentation, submittals, and method statements.
- Ensure all systems are commissioned in line with project specifications and industry standards.
- Oversee FAT, SAT, functional testing, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Drive issue resolution, tracking, and closeout of all commissioning deficiencies.
- Interface with client, construction, and design teams to ensure alignment and delivery.
- Provide regular reporting on commissioning progress, risks, and milestones.
- Support training, documentation, and final handover to operations teams.
- Ensure health, safety, and quality compliance throughout commissioning activities.
Systems Experience (Required)
- Electrical systems (MV/LV distribution, switchgear, UPS)
- Backup power (generators, fuel systems)
- Mechanical systems (chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers)
- BMS / EPMS systems
- Fire detection and suppression systems
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Extensive commissioning experience in mission-critical environments (data centers highly preferred).
- Proven track record in a leadership or management role on large-scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of commissioning processes, standards, and best practices (ASHRAE, CSA, etc.).
- Experience managing Level 4–5 commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Attributes
- Hyperscale data center project experience
- Experience working with major general contractors or developers
- Familiarity with digital commissioning platforms and reporting tools
