Position Summary

The High Voltage (HV) Engineer is responsible for the installation oversight, testing, energisation, commissioning support, and operational readiness of high voltage electrical systems on a large-scale data centre project in Finland. The role focuses on ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant delivery of HV infrastructure critical to mission-critical operations.

The HV Engineer will coordinate with contractors, utility providers, OEM vendors, commissioning teams, and client representatives to ensure all HV systems are delivered in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

HV System Delivery

• Support the delivery and execution of all high voltage electrical works across the project.
• Oversee installation and testing activities for:
• HV substations
• GIS/AIS switchgear
• Power transformers
• HV cabling systems
• Protection and control systems
• Earthing systems
• Generator interfaces
• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.

Technical Coordination

• Review electrical designs, single-line diagrams, protection philosophies, and technical submittals.
• Coordinate with utility providers and grid operators for incoming power infrastructure and energisation activities.
• Interface with design consultants, OEM vendors, subcontractors, and commissioning teams.
• Support resolution of technical issues and non-conformances during installation and commissioning phases.

Testing & Commissioning

• Assist in planning and execution of:
• Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
• Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
• HV pressure testing and cable testing
• Relay protection testing
• Functional testing and energisation
• Integrated Systems Testing (IST)
• Review switching procedures, method statements, and risk assessments for HV operations.
• Support safe energisation and system handover activities.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all HV activities comply with:
• Finnish electrical regulations
• IEC standards
• Client safety requirements
• Site permit-to-work and LOTO procedures
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on site.
• Participate in toolbox talks, safety audits, and incident investigations where required.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of testing, inspections, and commissioning activities.
• Support compilation of handover documentation, as-built records, and commissioning reports.
• Track defects, punch list items, and corrective actions through to closure.
