**Relocation to Dubai**
Clear are looking for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to act as the global technical lead for electrical systems across our data center portfolio. This is a senior, hands-on role for an experienced electrical engineer who can guide complex MV/LV design decisions, set and govern global design standards, and represent the business as a trusted technical voice with clients and internal teams. You'll work across hyperscale and enterprise data center projects worldwide, helping shape how we design for reliability, performance, and the demands of increasingly power-dense, AI/HPC-driven environments.
Key Responsibilities
1) Electrical Design Leadership (Global)
- Serve as the go-to technical expert and design authority for electrical systems across the data center portfolio worldwide.
- Own the design of high-complexity electrical infrastructure for hyperscale and enterprise data centers, from early concept through final delivery.
- Advise on medium- and low-voltage distribution, transformers, UPS topologies, protection/coordination studies, grounding systems, and overall resilience strategy.
2) Standards, Governance & Quality Assurance
- Build, roll out, and maintain global electrical design standards, reference architectures, and quality frameworks.
- Confirm all designs meet North American code requirements (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL) as well as relevant IEC and other international standards.
- Conduct peer reviews and technical validation of electrical deliverables across regions to keep quality, consistency, and compliance high.
- Act as the final point of escalation for the toughest or highest-risk electrical design issues.
3) Stakeholder & Project Engagement (Global)
- Work across a multidisciplinary, international engineering team on projects that vary widely in scope and complexity.
- Bring senior-level electrical engineering input to proposals, bids, and project execution.
- Represent the business as the senior technical voice in client meetings, design workshops, and internal reviews.
- Travel to global project sites to evaluate electrical installations, construction quality, and readiness for commissioning.
4) Innovation & Value Engineering
- Drive value engineering efforts that balance cost, performance, reliability, and constructability without compromising system resilience.
- Assess and adopt new technologies and design approaches to keep pace with rising power densities, AI/HPC workloads, and evolving resilience needs.
- Help evolve the organization's electrical design methods and delivery approach over time.
5) Mentorship & Technical Leadership
- Coach and grow electrical engineering talent across global teams.
- Champion consistent design methodology, technical discipline, and best practices across regions and business lines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (accredited program).
- Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering experience, with substantial time spent on mission-critical and data center projects.
Core Skills
- Strong command of MV/LV distribution, UPS architecture, transformers, grounding, protection schemes, and system coordination.
- Solid grasp of North American electrical codes (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL) and IEC standards.
- Track record of acting as a senior technical authority in large, matrixed, global organizations.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to influence senior leaders and clients.
- Experience with program management, change management, and governance in multi-region settings.
- Comfortable operating at an enterprise or global scale across multiple delivery models.
- Skilled at resolving complex technical, commercial, and execution challenges.
- Knows when and how to escalate, keeping things fast, transparent, and aligned with leadership.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
- Strong analytical, technical, and commercial judgment.
- Demonstrated leadership and cross-regional collaboration skills.
- Self-starter with sound decision-making and problem-solving instincts.
- Fluent English speaker, comfortable working with diverse, global teams.
