Senior Planner – Pharmaceutical Projects

Location: Geel, Belgium

Salary: Up too €95k + Rotation Package

Our client is a leading international engineering and construction business specialising in the delivery of complex, high-value projects across the pharmaceutical, life sciences and mission-critical sectors. With an established presence across Europe, they work with some of the world's largest pharmaceutical and technology organisations, delivering projects from pre-construction and design through to construction, commissioning and handover. Due to continued project activity in Belgium, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Planner to join their team in Geel.


The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Planner with a strong pharmaceutical construction background to take responsibility for planning across a major project in Geel, Belgium. This is an excellent opportunity for a Planner who is looking to take ownership of a project or portfolio, working closely with project management, construction teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure programmes are accurate, achievable and aligned with project requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for planning across an assigned project or portfolio of projects.
  • Develop and maintain detailed schedules covering pre-construction, construction and commissioning.
  • Maintain project progress databases and provide regular progress reporting.
  • Carry out milestone projections, delay analysis, float path analysis and programme forecasting.
  • Develop and manage Earned Value Management (EVM) systems.
  • Monitor schedule performance, productivity and planned versus actual progress.
  • Carry out regular site progress audits to ensure reported progress accurately reflects physical works.
  • Attend planning and schedule meetings, liaising closely with clients, project management teams and subcontractors.
  • Prepare tender schedules and programmes to support project bids.
  • Prepare histograms, progress reports and programme outputs for project and client reporting.
  • Lead planning meetings and support weekly workface planning systems.
  • Develop 1, 3 and 6-week lookahead programmes where required.
  • Resource and cash-load project schedules.
  • Provide accurate planning data to support payment applications and commercial reporting.
  • Complete contract review reports and identify programme-related risks and obligations.
  • Maintain the quality and accuracy of all schedules and planning reports.
  • Identify programme issues and provide recommendations and solutions to the project team.
  • Record delay and disruption and provide supporting information for claims and contractual disputes.
  • Travel to project locations where required.
  • Support, coach and develop junior planning staff where necessary.
  • Provide cover for Planning Manager and Project Planner responsibilities when required.


About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • 3–5+ years' experience in project planning within construction or engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience within the pharmaceutical / life sciences sector.
  • High-level proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Strong construction and project delivery experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with programme development, progress reporting, critical path analysis and delay/disruption.
  • Understanding of resource and cash-loaded programmes.
  • Experience working with clients, subcontractors and wider project teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider project team.
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on programme quality and accuracy.
