Senior Superintendent – Commissioning - Hyperscale Data Centers
📍 Locations: TX, NY, CA OR USA - Travel 50% +
$175k– $250k Base (DOE) + Equity + Full Benefits
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Superintendent to lead full-lifecycle MEP commissioning execution for hyperscale data center projects (100MW+). This is a high-impact field leadership role responsible for driving commissioning activities from pre-functional testing through Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and final owner acceptance.
The ideal candidate brings deep mission-critical mechanical expertise combined with strong electrical and controls knowledge, and has successfully led commissioning programs in large-scale, high-availability data center environments.
What you’ll do:
- Lead on-site commissioning execution across mechanical, electrical, and controls systems
- Drive pre-functional testing, functional performance testing, and IST activities
- Coordinate startup and energization sequencing for chillers, dry coolers, FCUs, pumps, HVAC systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, BMS, and EPMS
- Partner with Commissioning Authorities (CxA), contractors, engineers, and owner representatives to ensure seamless project execution
- Lead site meetings, commissioning status reviews, risk mitigation, and recovery planning
- Oversee quality inspections, deficiency tracking, and corrective action management
- Drive six-week look-ahead planning, constraint management, and visual planning processes
- Maintain schedule integrity, safety compliance, and operational readiness across complex commissioning sequences
What we’re looking for:
- 7–10 years of commissioning and field supervision experience within hyperscale mission-critical data centers (100MW+)
- Current or recent Superintendent experience managing commissioning programs through owner acceptance
- Strong mechanical commissioning expertise involving chillers, dry coolers, pumps, cooling towers, FCUs, and HVAC systems
- Working knowledge of electrical and controls systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, BMS, and EPMS
- Experience on the owner’s rep or client side strongly preferred
- Proven leadership experience running high-stakes client meetings and coordinating multiple trades and stakeholders
- Strong understanding of commissioning specifications, MEP construction methods, OSHA requirements, and energized work procedures
- Experience with look-ahead scheduling, takt planning, zone maps, and commissioning coordination tools
- Willingness to travel a minimum of 50%
