Mechanical Commissioning Lead – Data Center Project | Stavanger, Norway

Location: Stavanger, Norway

Project: Major Data Center

Duration: Minimum 18 months contract

Rotation: 17 days on / 5 days off preferred; 10/4 may also be considered


We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Lead to join a major data center project in Stavanger, Norway, working on behalf of the General Contractor (GC).

This is a long-term opportunity requiring a minimum 18-month commitment. We are looking for a mechanically qualified commissioning professional who is hands-on, site-based and comfortable working through demanding project periods.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage mechanical commissioning activities from L1 through L5.
  • Be hands-on and site-based, actively driving commissioning activities and supporting the wider project team.
  • Work effectively through demanding project periods and maintain a strong focus on programme delivery.
  • Chase and coordinate vendor documentation and commissioning deliverables.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with the GC, subcontractors, specialist vendors, engineering teams and client representatives.
  • Review mechanical systems and equipment for commissioning readiness.
  • Carry out and oversee hands-on testing, verification and functional performance testing.
  • Support integrated systems testing and higher-level commissioning activities where required.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and drive resolution of mechanical commissioning issues.
  • Manage defects, punch-list items and outstanding commissioning activities through to close-out.


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Commissioning Lead on large-scale data center projects.
  • Minimum 18 months' experience working on a major data center project.
  • Strong GC-side delivery experience is preferred.
  • Candidates whose experience is solely from the CxA/Commissioning Agent side may not be suitable for this role.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering mechanical commissioning through L1–L5.
  • Strong hands-on commissioning experience with a site-based approach.
  • Experience developing and managing commissioning scripts, tagging trackers and commissioning documentation.
  • Proven ability to drive tag closure, construction completion and commissioning readiness.
  • Experience coordinating vendor documentation and commissioning deliverables.
  • Confident organising and leading commissioning meetings.
  • Relevant Mechanical qualification is essential.
  • Strong understanding of data center commissioning processes and requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure during demanding project periods.

  • Valid EU/EEA passport or other appropriate Norwegian work authorisation.
