About the job

Senior Electrical Engineer, Data Center Owner Representative

Location: Texas (hybrid)

Salary: $185,000 to $215,000 per year plus 20% bonus target

Type: Full-time

The role

A specialist data center developer deploying AI factory infrastructure across the US is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to be its electrical authority and owner's representative for the electrical scope on its US portfolio. This is three jobs in one seat, you will be setting the electrical standards the portfolio runs on, managing the external design partner delivering to those standards, and standing in the field or factory verifying that what was specified is what got built.

If you want to sit in a model all day, this is not the right role. If you have been the owner's technical decision maker on a programme and want to own the outcome end to end, it is.

What you will be doing

  • Set the electrical basis of design, reference one-lines, and technical specifications for US projects and own the change control over them
  • Review design partner deliverables at each gate — concept, 30%, 60%, 90%, IFC — redline, log, resolve, and accept
  • Review load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and protection and coordination studies — confirm the partner's work is correct, not just complete
  • Own MV distribution, unit substations, UPS and battery systems, static and dynamic transfer, generator and BESS integration, and grounding and bonding schemes
  • Manage the electrical design schedule integrated with the overall project schedule — escalate before a date is missed, not after
  • Own design budget and change management: review partner progress against deliverable status, identify scope creep, and disposition change requests with a recommendation
  • Run the electrical design coordination cadence — set agendas, drive open items to closure, maintain the decision log
  • Manage interfaces across the design partner, GC, OEMs, utility, commissioning authority, and AHJ
  • Own the risk register for electrical scope including long-lead equipment and utility energization
  • Specify and bid-level long-lead equipment; support factory witness testing and vendor technical qualification
  • Serve as field technical authority during construction: RFIs, submittals, deviation dispositions, and contractor pay application review
  • Support commissioning through Level 4 and Level 5 and technical acceptance at turnover

What we need from you

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical degree with demonstrated power systems depth
  • 10 or more years in electrical design, engineering, or owner-side technical authority including at least 4 years in data centers, mission-critical facilities, or heavy industrial power
  • Demonstrated experience managing external engineering consultants or design firms as an owner or client representative — scope, schedule, deliverable quality, and commercial performance
  • Demonstrated ownership of MV distribution design or design review at 13.8kV or above
  • Working command of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 110, and applicable IEEE standards
  • Direct experience reviewing and challenging consultant deliverables, not only producing them
  • Able to run a meeting, hold people to commitments, and write a status update an executive can act on
  • Legally authorised to work in the US without sponsorship

Good to have

  • PE license or eligible
  • PMP or equivalent project management credential
  • Experience with liquid-cooled high-density compute at 100kW per rack and above
  • Modular or factory-built electrical rooms, e-houses, or skidded power blocks
  • On-site generation, islanding, and battery energy storage integration
  • ERCOT, SPP, or comparable US market interconnection experience
  • Commissioning experience through integrated systems testing
  • SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower proficiency
  • Revit and AutoCAD literacy sufficient to mark up and interrogate a model

Compensation and benefits

  • $185,000 to $215,000 per year DOE
  • 20% annual bonus target
  • Healthcare coverage
  • 160 hours paid time off per year
  • 401(k) retirement plan
