A specialist engineering and construction firm working on large-scale high-technology and mission-critical projects is hiring a Principal I&C Engineer to lead a team of Extra Low Voltage engineers through design and construction phases. This is a senior technical leadership role with full responsibility for ELV systems design, team management, and construction execution on complex, large-scale programmes.
If you hold a PE license, have 8 or more years of instrumentation and controls experience, and want technical ownership of ELV scope on projects with real scale and complexity, this is worth a conversation.
What you will be doing
- Lead a group of ELV Engineers across design and construction phases of large-scale projects, prioritising and assigning work and regularly assessing team performance
- Prepare and oversee Basic Design, FEED, and detailed design of Process Control Systems, Building Control Systems, and other Extra Low Voltage systems
- Develop Sequence of Operations, Logic Diagrams, and cause and effect documentation
- Review and stamp ELV drawings as the engineer of record
- Check design documents, studies, specifications, datasheets, and calculations prepared by other Instrument Engineers
- Execute and expedite ELV system packages during construction and take responsibility for assigned packages
- Coordinate scheduling activities for ELV supervisors to ensure delivery at project milestone dates
- Interface with other engineering disciplines during design and incorporate their requirements into ELV system design
- Technically evaluate vendor submissions and approve shop drawings
- Prepare testing and commissioning procedures for individual systems and assist in loop commissioning of controls systems
- Guide designers and draftsmen in preparing cable routing plans, hook-up drawings, and wiring drawings
- Mentor ELV Engineers throughout tendering, design, and construction phases
What we need from you
- Degree in Instrumentation, Controls, Automation, Mechanical, Robotics, Chemical Engineering, or a controls-related discipline
- 8 or more years of relevant I&C or ELV engineering experience
- PE license required
- Experience working on large-scale projects in both office and construction site environments
- Comfortable working remotely and virtually as part of a distributed project team
