The Opportunity
We are working with a leading general contractor delivering major hyperscale data center projects across the Middle East. With a strong pipeline of large-scale, technically complex developments, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager - Data Centers to support the successful delivery of a major project.
This is a key project leadership position, responsible for driving day-to-day delivery and coordinating multidisciplinary teams across construction, MEP, commercial, planning, procurement, quality and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of a major data center project, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
- Develop and maintain detailed project delivery plans, programmes and milestones.
- Coordinate closely with construction, MEP, commercial, planning, procurement, QA/QC and commissioning teams.
- Oversee the delivery and integration of complex mechanical, electrical and specialist data center systems.
- Manage and coordinate main contractors, specialist subcontractors, consultants and suppliers.
- Monitor project progress against programme and identify potential delays, risks and areas requiring intervention.
- Develop and implement mitigation and recovery strategies where required.
- Lead regular progress meetings and provide clear reporting to the Project Director and senior management.
- Build strong working relationships with the client, consultants and key project stakeholders.
- Support the commercial team in managing variations, claims, change control and contractual matters.
- Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements and project procedures.
- Maintain a strong focus on HSE and ensure that project teams and subcontractors operate in accordance with all relevant standards.
- Coordinate closely with commissioning teams to ensure systems are properly tested, commissioned and ready for handover.
- Manage project interfaces between civil, structural, architectural and MEP packages to ensure effective project integration.
- Identify and manage project risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
- Support the Project Director with senior stakeholder management and overall project strategy.
Candidate Requirements
- Significant experience as a Senior Project Manager, Project Manager or similar senior delivery role within construction.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale data center, hyperscale or mission-critical projects.
- Experience working for a major general contractor / main contractor or EPC organisation.
- Strong understanding of complex MEP-intensive construction environments.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and multiple specialist subcontractors.
- Strong knowledge of construction programmes, project controls, procurement and commercial management.
- Experience managing project interfaces across multiple disciplines and work packages.
- Strong client, consultant and subcontractor management skills.
- Excellent understanding of health & safety, quality assurance and construction best practice.
- Experience through testing, commissioning and handover of data center projects is highly desirable.
- Middle East experience is preferred, although international candidates with strong hyperscale data center experience will be considered.
- Degree-qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline is preferred.
- Relevant professional qualifications would be advantageous.
Ideal Background
The successful candidate will have a strong track record delivering hyperscale or large-scale data center projects, ideally within a major general contractor environment.
You should be comfortable managing complex, fast-paced projects with multiple interfaces and significant MEP requirements. Strong coordination skills, commercial awareness and the ability to drive project teams towards key programme milestones will be essential.
Experience working within the Middle East construction market would be highly advantageous, particularly on major mission-critical or data center developments.
