FLAP-D (Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin) still carries the bulk of operational demand, but Iberia (led by Madrid and Aragon) and the Nordics (led by Stockholm) are the fastest-growing clusters by approved pipeline. Central European secondary hubs around Warsaw and Milan are picking up.
Indicative permanent base salaries in FLAP-D and Nordic markets run from around €32k for entry-level roles up to €190k plus for programme directors, with executive compensation sitting on top. Iberia, Italy and Central European markets typically sit lower for the same disciplines. Contract and freelance day rates run separately and can substantially exceed permanent equivalents.
Sponsorship is a client decision and varies by country and role. Most of the hyperscale clients we work with in Europe operate in English internally and will sponsor harder-to-fill engineering and operations roles. Local colocation providers and EPC contractors often expect functional language ability in the country language on top. We are explicit about the language and sponsorship position on every brief.
Freelance and contract engagement models are well established in the German data center market, and many operators and EPC contractors run a mixed permanent and contract delivery model. Engagement structures are typically negotiated up front and our consultants will explain how a specific role is being structured before any offer reaches the candidate.
